Welcome Aboard, Aviation Enthusiasts!!!
This is my first blog post from my own blog "Aviation Insights." I hope that my introductory aviation blog post would set a stable foundation to ignite your passion into the boundless blue skies. Firstly, let's take a look about the meaning about the meaning of the term 'Aviation.'
Aviation can be simply defined as Air Transportation. Thereby, aviation is known as the design, development, production, operation and utilization of an aircraft and its transportation. So, aviation includes the activities surrounding the mechanical flight and the aircraft industry. It's basically the art or science of flying an aircraft/airplane.
The term, "Aviation" comes from the Latin word 'avis' which means bird. So it's clear that aviation deals with travel by air or air transportation, and an aircraft is dominant here.
Aviation could also be considered as an industry. Unfortunately most of the people tend to differentiate the Airline Industry with the Aviation Industry. Let's have a look at the difference between these two industries.
The Airline industry refers to the sector that provides air transportation services to passengers and cargo. It basically focuses on the operation of airlines, employs pilots and flight attendants, manage flight schedules, sell air tickets and provide air travel services to travelers. The Aviation Industry encompasses all aspects related to aviation such as manufacturing and maintenance of air crafts, air traffic controlling, airport operations etc. It includes everything from the production of air crafts until the entire process of air travel. Therefore the Aviation industry covers a wide range of activities related to aviation, while the Airline industry is a subset of the Aviation industry that specifically deals with services related to air travel.
In aviation the 3 most important things are -
- Aviate - Fly the airplane
- Navigate - Where are you now, where are you heading to and is there something in front of you which can harm or hurt you.
- Communicate - Time permitting contact of ATC (Air Traffic Control)
Another essential skill to be successful in aviation is Effective Communication. Pilots need to be able to communicate clearly and concisely with Air Traffic Controllers, Other Pilots and the Cabin Crew.
The 3 types of Aviation are -
- Commercial Aviation
- General Aviation
- Military Aviation
There are 2 major international organizations that monitor Civil Aviation Operations globally.
- IATA - International Airline Transportation Association
- ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization
When considering the Scope of Aviation it includes -
- Aircraft Manufacturing & Maintenance
- Aerodynamics
- Flight Operations
- Airport Management
- Aviation Law
- Airline Industry
- Aircraft Engineering
- Aviation Technologies
- Air Navigation Systems
- Careers in Aviaion etc.
Aviation is an interesting and global industry. It gives you the chance to travel to various countries, explore diverse cultures and cherish many amazing experiences worldwide. Aviation plays a crucial role in shaping the modern world and it is vital for global connectivity. It plays an important role above borders and beyond boundaries.
(This video was taken by the "Yotube Channel - Aviation : Benefits Beyond Borders" due to educational purposes, @https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AkGWA25GP0)
Therefore aviation benefits us beyond borders. It creates employment, facilities trade, enables tourism and supports sustainable development worldwide.
So, as our introduction to aviation comes to an end, "Just don't forget to keep your eyes to the skies!" Let's meet soon in another exciting venture about aviation.
